Hanoi utility starts pilot operation of first 100 MWh battery portfolio

Energy-Storage.News reports that EVNHANOI’s five BESS sites each provide 10 MW of output and 20 MWh of storage, making the portfolio Hanoi’s first large-scale grid-connected battery deployment. The systems sit at substations on the 110 kV grid and will be used to test technical models and future operating approaches. The project arrives as Vietnam faces rising renewable curtailment, rapid solar and wind integration challenges, and commitments under its revised PDP8 power plan.
