From 1,500V to 2kV: Why EBOS design will determine next phase of utility-scale solar

SolarNews Brief

The voltage escalation trend in solar energy systems continues. Electrical Balance of Systems (EBOS) design is becoming the critical factor in transitioning from 1500V to 2000V in utility-scale projects. Higher voltage reduces cable costs and increases system efficiency. However, this transition brings new challenges regarding safety standards and equipment compatibility. Industry experts predict that 2kV systems will become standard within the next five years.
