DAS Solar, UNSW build tunnel back-contact solar cell with 27% efficiency, lower silver content

DAS Solar and UNSW developed tunnel back-contact silicon solar cells with efficiencies above 27%. Their zero-busbar metal grid optimisation improves rear-side current collection while reducing silver use by 3–4 mg/W. The approach could lower cost and supply-chain pressure for high-efficiency cell manufacturing.
