Contracts were awarded for 520 MW in MISO territory and 80 MW in PJM territory after the commission approved the Summer 2026 procurement results on September 1. Illinois plans additional storage procurements in 2027 and potentially 2028 under the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act, while the state agency will seek stakeholder feedback during fall 2026. A formal storage procurement plan is due for public comment by June 1, 2027, making the shortfall an important input for the next auction design.
