MGEN launches first phase of giant MTerra solar-plus-storage project in the Philippines

SolarNews Brief

Meralco PowerGen has inaugurated Phase I of the MTerra Solar project in the Philippines with 1.373 GW of PV and 825 MW / 3,300 MWh of battery storage. The project is designed to become one of the world’s largest integrated solar and storage sites when fully built.

Phase I of MTerra Solar in Nueva Ecija can initially export up to 750 MW to the Luzon grid while additional grid works continue. MGEN says the full development will reach 3.5 GW of solar PV and 4,500 MWh of battery storage, with all 741 battery units at the first phase already energised. The scale is important for Southeast Asia because it links solar deployment, storage duration and grid readiness in a single flagship project.
