Ark Energy reaches AU$1.3 billion FID for Richmond Valley solar-plus-storage project

SolarNews Brief

Ark Energy has secured a financial investment decision for its AU$1.3 billion Richmond Valley solar-plus-storage project in Australia. The approved configuration includes 435 MW of solar PV and a 475 MW / 3,148 MWh battery system, backed by equity and debt financing.

The FID was approved by Korea Zinc’s board on July 21, 2026, for Ark Energy’s Richmond Valley project. The financing package includes AU$586 million in equity and AU$716 million in debt for a project configured with 435 MW of solar PV and 475 MW / 3,148 MWh of battery storage. The scale is significant for Australia because long-duration co-located storage can firm solar output and support grid reliability in a high-renewables market.
