India identifies 102 GWp floating solar potential as new policy push emerges

India has identified more than 102 GWp of deployable floating solar potential across reservoirs and other waterbodies. The number is strategically important because floating PV could ease land constraints while opening a new utility-scale growth channel for the country's solar market.

India's National Institute of Solar Energy has estimated more than 102 GWp of deployable floating solar PV potential across waterbodies. The finding raises India's total assessed solar potential to about 3,445 GW and comes as policymakers consider a stronger framework for floating PV deployment.
