Ukraine schedules 150 MW solar and solar-storage auctions for September

SolarNews Brief

Ukraine’s state-owned Guaranteed Buyer will run two solar support auctions on September 25 with a combined 150 MW of quota. The package includes 50 MW of standalone solar and 100 MW of solar-plus-storage, with separate bid ceilings and storage requirements.

The 50 MW solar auction carries a maximum bid price of EUR 0.08/kWh, while the 100 MW solar-plus-storage auction is capped at EUR 0.12/kWh. For the storage-linked tender, the battery system must be at least 80% of the solar generating capacity and provide at least 2 kWh for every 1 kW of installed PV. Support will not be paid during the 12:00 to 13:59 window, pushing projects toward more valuable delivery hours. The structure shows how auction design is increasingly rewarding dispatchability rather than midday solar output alone.
