The 2026 auction framework includes one track for nationally accredited battery systems and another open track for all battery storage projects. Eligible projects must be new, connected to the Sistema Interligado Nacional, and able to provide contracted capacity under reserve power contracts. Technical requirements include at least 30 MW of minimum availability, four hours of continuous operation, 85% minimum round-trip efficiency, a six-hour maximum full recharge time, and grid-forming capabilities where required by ONS and EPE.
