Wood Mackenzie lifts Latin America storage outlook to 34 GW by 2035

Wood Mackenzie has raised its Latin America storage outlook to 34 GW by 2035, up from 2.5 GW in 2025. The forecast signals that solar-heavy markets are moving from pure generation growth toward batteries as a grid-balancing and curtailment-management tool.

Wood Mackenzie now forecasts Latin America energy storage capacity will grow from 2.5 GW in 2025 to 34 GW by 2035, a 13.6-fold increase over ten years. The drivers are renewable curtailment, grid congestion, auctions and supportive policies, but revenue-model uncertainty, financing constraints and regulatory gaps still shape the pace of deployment.
