SECI opens 50 MW / 100 MWh storage tender for short-term grid support

SECI has opened bidding for a 50 MW / 100 MWh standalone storage system to support grid operations as renewable generation grows. The short one-year contract structure makes the tender a useful signal for how India is testing flexible storage procurement alongside larger solar and wind additions.

Solar Energy Corporation of India has invited bids for a 50 MW / 100 MWh standalone battery energy storage system with two hours of duration. The selected developer will provide capacity on demand under a one-year Energy Storage Purchase Agreement running from Nov. 1, 2026 to Oct. 31, 2027, making this a grid-operations tender rather than a conventional long-term renewables PPA.
